Food and drink rooted in Welsh soil, served with warmth in the heart of Carmarthen. Local produce, honest cooking, and a bar that celebrates the best of Wales.
The Welsh House is not just a restaurant. It is a celebration of everything this country grows, brews, and creates. Set in the centre of Carmarthen -- the oldest town in Wales -- we are a gathering place for people who believe that the best food comes from close to home.
Our kitchen works with the seasons, building menus around what Welsh farms and foragers bring to our door. Our bar pours Welsh craft beers, Welsh gins, and Welsh ciders alongside carefully chosen wines. Every detail is considered. Every plate tells a story of place.
Daily deliveries from local farms. Nothing frozen, nothing processed. Food that tastes of what it is.
Our supply chain is measured in miles, not continents. We know the farmers who grow what we serve.
This is Welsh food with ambition. Not nostalgic, not gimmicky -- just brilliantly executed.
We believe the best ingredient is a short journey. Welsh lamb, Carmarthenshire cheese, Pembrokeshire seafood -- the land provides everything we need.

Carmarthen Town Centre, Carmarthenshire, SA31
In the heart of the oldest town in Wales. Steps from the market, surrounded by independent shops and galleries.
Town centre parking available nearby. Bus routes from all directions. Train station a short walk away.
Wales produces some of the finest ingredients in the world. Salt-marsh lamb from the estuaries, beef from the Black Mountains, seafood from the Pembrokeshire coast, cheese that rivals anything from the continent. We put it all on your plate.
Our drinks list reads like a love letter to Welsh brewing, distilling, and winemaking. From the gins of Ceredigion to the ales of North Wales, every pour supports a Welsh maker.
Step inside and the bustle of Carmarthen fades. Natural materials, warm lighting, and thoughtful design create a space that feels like an extension of the Welsh landscape.
Whether you are here for a quick lunch, a long evening with friends, or a Sunday roast with the family, The Welsh House adapts to your mood. Come for the food, stay for the atmosphere.
Over 9,500 people follow us -- here is why
The Welsh rarebit croquettes are genuinely the best thing I have eaten this year. Staff were brilliant, atmosphere was spot on. This place is a gem.
Sunday roast here is exceptional. Proper gravy, proper Yorkshire puds, and the lamb just falls apart. Book ahead though, it gets busy.
Love that everything is Welsh sourced. The gin selection alone is worth the visit. Tried the Dyfi -- incredible. Will be bringing friends next time.
Had the sea bass and it was cooked perfectly. Service was warm without being overbearing. A proper grown-up restaurant in Carmarthen at last.
Took the family for a birthday. The kids menu was proper food, not the usual rubbish. Adults had steak -- incredible quality. Everyone left happy.
The bara brith bread and butter pudding. I still dream about it. Carmarthen is lucky to have this place.
Fresh food, Welsh drink, and a warm welcome -- seven days a week in the heart of Carmarthen
