A Family Legacy,
Served with Warmth

The Rana's Kitchen was born from a simple truth: the finest food is made with memory. Our founder, raised in the hill villages of western Nepal, carried the family's recipes across continents, eventually settling in Aberystwyth — and bringing those Himalayan flavours to the shores of Cardigan Bay.

Gurkha soldiers have long been celebrated for their honour, their courage, and — less famously but no less importantly — their extraordinary cuisine. We are proud to share that heritage with West Wales, one momo at a time.

Every ingredient is sourced with care. Every spice blend is prepared in-house. Every dish honours the grandmother who first taught us that food is the language families speak when words are not enough.

The Traditions Behind
Every Single Dish

Nepalese cuisine is one of the world's great undiscovered food cultures — shaped by altitude, climate, trade routes from India and Tibet, and centuries of Gurkha military service that carried these flavours across the globe.

Mountain Origins

Rooted in the high villages of the Himalayas, where every spice was precious and every recipe evolved over generations to nourish families through harsh mountain winters.

Gurkha Honour

The Gurkha tradition prizes discipline, integrity, and pride in craft. That same spirit guides our kitchen — nothing leaves our pass unless it is worthy of the name Rana.

Family Recipes

Not a single dish on our menu was invented in a commercial kitchen. Each one was handed down — grandparent to parent, parent to child — refined by memory and love.

Wales & Nepal

Two small nations, both fiercely proud of their culture and landscape. We have found a natural home in Aberystwyth, where the welcome is as warm as the dal.
