Nestled on the road between Laugharne and Pendine, we are the stop you did not know you needed. Homemade breakfasts, proper lunches, cakes baked in-house every morning, and coffee that will make you glad you pulled over.
The Stone Range sits on the Carmarthenshire coast road between two of Wales's most beautiful destinations: Dylan Thomas's Laugharne and the sweeping expanse of Pendine Sands. It is a place born from the belief that a roadside stop should be more than a vending machine and a petrol station sandwich.
Everything is prepared in our kitchen each morning. The cakes are baked before the doors open. The soups are simmered from whole ingredients. The coffee is ground to order by trained baristas. We are a small team that takes enormous pride in feeding people well.
We are on the A4066 coast road. If you are heading from Laugharne towards Pendine, you will find us on your left. Look for the sign. Ample free parking on site.
Our menu follows the seasons. Spring lamb, summer salads, autumn soups, winter warmers. We source locally and let the ingredients lead. Check our Facebook page for this week's specials board.
"Stopped on our way to Pendine. Best breakfast we had all holiday. The Welsh cakes were incredible and the coffee was properly good."
"We come here every weekend. The cakes are always different and always delicious. Staff are lovely and the views out back are stunning."
"A proper cafe with proper food. None of that chain nonsense. You can taste that everything is homemade. The soup alone is worth the drive."
We love feeding families. Smaller portions, gentle flavours, no fuss. High chairs available, and we always have colouring sheets behind the counter.
The road between Laugharne and Pendine is one of the most beautiful drives in south Wales. Dylan Thomas country to the east, the vast sands and military history to the west, and green Carmarthenshire hillside in between.
But for years, there was nowhere good to stop. Nowhere to sit down, eat something freshly made, and drink a cup of coffee that had been prepared with actual skill. That is why The Stone Range exists.
We are not a tourist trap or a motorway service station. We are a proper cafe, run by people who live here, cooking food that we are genuinely proud of, in a building that sits quietly and beautifully in the landscape it serves.
When locals started coming back week after week, we knew we had got it right. When the walkers from the Wales Coast Path started making us their planned lunch stop, we knew the word was spreading. When families on their summer holidays drove past once, turned around, and came back, we knew the quality spoke for itself.
Today, The Stone Range is a fixture of this coastline. We see the same faces every Saturday morning, the same walking groups every Wednesday, and a steady stream of new visitors who stumble upon us and leave planning their next visit. That is exactly how it should be.
Well-behaved dogs always welcome. Water bowls outside, biscuits on request. This is the countryside; we would be strange not to.
Please let us know about allergies or dietary requirements when ordering. We are always happy to adapt dishes where we can.
