The Carmarthenshire Scaffolding Difference

We are not the only scaffolding company in West Wales. What sets us apart is the combination of qualified people, rigorous processes and a genuine commitment to getting the job done safely and on time.

CISRS Cards — No Exceptions

Every operative who erects scaffolding on your site holds a valid CISRS card. We do not sub-contract to unqualified labour. You have the right to ask and we are proud to show proof of competence before work begins.

Written Handover Certificates

Once a scaffold is erected and inspected, you receive a written handover certificate confirming it is safe for use. Subsequent inspections are logged and available to you at any point during the hire period.

TG20 and BS EN 12811 Compliant

All scaffolds are designed and erected in accordance with the NASC TG20 guide for tube and fitting scaffolding and BS EN 12811, meeting current UK industry standards and insurance requirements.

Competitive, Transparent Pricing

We provide detailed, itemised quotations. Our pricing is competitive for the region and we do not add charges after the job is agreed. If the scope changes, we discuss it with you before proceeding.

Local Knowledge, Rapid Response

Based in Carmarthenshire, we know the area, the planning context, the weather patterns and the access challenges of working across West Wales. We can mobilise quickly and respond to short-notice requirements.

Free Site Survey — No Obligation

Before any quotation is issued, one of our experienced supervisors visits the site. This ensures we provide an accurate price and identify any access, ground or structural considerations that could affect the design or erection programme.

From First Call to Scaffold Handover

Our process is straightforward. We keep you informed at every stage and make sure the scaffold is erected to specification, on programme and fully compliant before you step foot on it.

Initial Contact

Call us or submit your enquiry online. Tell us about your project — type of work, location, approximate timescales and any access constraints you are aware of.

Free Site Survey

We visit your site at a time convenient to you. Our supervisor assesses the access, ground conditions and structural requirements before producing a written quotation.

Erection Day

Our CISRS-qualified team arrives on the agreed date. The scaffold is erected to design, all edge protection and toe boards fitted, and the structure inspected before handover.

Handover & Inspection

You receive a written handover certificate. Weekly inspections are carried out throughout the hire period. When your work is complete, we dismantle and remove all equipment promptly.

CISRS Qualified. Fully Insured. Fully Compliant.

Scaffolding is a safety-critical activity. The qualifications and accreditations held by our team are not optional extras — they are your assurance that the scaffold around your property or project has been designed and built by people who know what they are doing.

What CISRS Means for You

The Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme is the UK industry standard for scaffolding competence. A CISRS card confirms that the holder has completed approved training, demonstrated practical competence and passed trade tests assessed by an independent examiner.

When you hire Carmarthenshire Scaffolding, every operative on your site holds a current CISRS card appropriate to their level — whether that is Scaffold Labourer, Scaffolder or Advanced Scaffolder. You are entitled to ask to see these cards before work commences.

Public Liability Insurance

We carry comprehensive public liability insurance covering third-party claims arising from our scaffolding operations. Certificate available on request.

Employers Liability Insurance

All staff are covered by employers liability insurance as required by UK law. Our team are directly employed, not zero-hours contractors.

Regular Scaffold Inspections

All scaffolds are inspected before handover, after any event that may affect stability, and at intervals not exceeding seven days, in line with Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Method Statements & Risk Assessments

Site-specific method statements and risk assessments are produced for every project. These are available for inclusion in your project health and safety file.

Your Safety Is Non-Negotiable

We do not cut corners on safety. Every scaffold we erect is built to the correct specification, using equipment that meets BS EN 39 for steel tubes and BS EN 74 for couplers. Our safety commitment is practical — not just paperwork.

Work at Height Regulations 2005 Compliance

All scaffolding work is planned and carried out in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005. We do not allow operatives to work at height without proper collective protection in place.

Edge Protection as Standard

Guard rails, mid-rails and toe boards are fitted as standard on all working platforms. We do not erect scaffolding without appropriate edge protection in place before handover.

Scaffold Tags and Handover Certificates

A colour-coded scaffold tag is displayed on every structure indicating its current inspection status. Red tags remain in place until any defect is rectified. Green tags confirm the scaffold is safe for use.

Pre-Start Briefings for All Operatives

Before erection or dismantling begins, our team leader holds a pre-start briefing covering the method statement, risk assessment and any site-specific hazards identified during the survey.

What Our Clients Say

We have built our reputation over fifteen years through consistent, reliable work. Here is what some of our clients across Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion have said about working with us.

"Used them for a full re-roof on our detached house in Carmarthen. Came to do the survey the same week I called, price was fair and they turned up exactly when they said they would. The scaffold was solid and safe throughout — no wobbling, properly boarded. Came down just as quickly when the roofer finished. Cannot fault the service."
D. Williams Homeowner, Carmarthen
"We use these lads on all our domestic new-builds in the Llanelli and Gorseinon area. Consistent, reliable and their paperwork is always in order. Inspections done on time without us chasing. When I've had a last-minute change of programme, they've always managed to accommodate us. Highly recommended to any contractor looking for a dependable scaffolding sub."
A. Thomas Site Manager, Llanelli
"Had them erect scaffolding for chimney pointing and repointing on a terraced property in Haverfordwest. They were polite, tidy and the price was exactly what was quoted — no extras crept in afterwards. They also managed the neighbouring properties sensitively, which I appreciated. Would use again without hesitation."
S. James Landlord, Haverfordwest
"Engaged them for a heritage restoration project on a Grade II listed building in Pembrokeshire. Their attention to detail was impressive — they understood the sensitivity of the site and made sure the scaffold did not damage the existing stonework. All documentation was complete and ready for the planning authority without any chasing from us."
R. Griffiths Project Manager, Pembrokeshire
"Needed scaffolding quickly for an emergency roof repair after storm damage. They were on site within 48 hours and the scaffold was up the same day. That kind of response when you genuinely need it is invaluable. Pricing was completely reasonable given the urgency and they kept us fully informed throughout. Brilliant."
M. Evans Homeowner, Aberystwyth
"We have used several scaffolding contractors over the years and these are by far the most professional we have encountered in West Wales. Their CISRS documentation is always current, the handover certificates are comprehensive and they respond quickly to any queries. If you are a contractor looking for a reliable scaffolding partner in this region, look no further."
J. Davies Principal Contractor, Ceredigion

Common Scaffolding Questions Answered

Whether you are arranging scaffolding for the first time or comparing contractors, here are answers to the questions we are asked most often.

Do I need planning permission to erect scaffolding?

In most cases, temporary scaffolding does not require planning permission as it is considered permitted development. However, if the scaffolding will extend over the public highway, you will need a licence from the local highway authority. We can advise on the requirements for your specific project and assist with licence applications where needed.

How quickly can you erect scaffolding?

Lead times vary depending on project size and current workload. For a standard domestic scaffold, we can typically erect within five to seven working days of survey and quotation acceptance. For urgent situations — such as emergency roof repairs — we will always do our best to mobilise as quickly as possible. Call us to discuss your timescale.

How long can I hire scaffolding for?

There is no fixed minimum or maximum hire period. Hire commences on the day of erection and continues until you confirm the scaffold is no longer required and we attend to dismantle. If your project overruns, simply let us know and we will extend the hire. Our pricing is based on a standard hire period with agreed rates for extensions.

Is my scaffolding inspected while it is up?

Yes. Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005, scaffolds must be inspected before first use, after any event that may have affected stability (such as high winds), and at intervals not exceeding seven days thereafter. We carry out these inspections and provide written records of each. You will receive copies on request at any time during the hire period.

What does a free site survey involve?

One of our supervisors visits your property or site to assess the specific requirements. They will consider access, ground conditions, anchor points, overhead cables, neighbouring properties and the nature of the work to be carried out. This takes anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending on project complexity. You then receive a written quotation with no obligation to proceed.

What happens if the scaffold is damaged during the hire?

We ask that you notify us immediately if any damage occurs or if you notice anything that appears unsafe. Do not continue using the scaffold until we have inspected it. We carry public liability insurance and will attend promptly to assess and rectify any damage. We will discuss the cause of any damage with you before any additional costs are raised.

Can you provide scaffolding for terraced or semi-detached properties?

Yes. We have extensive experience working on terraced streets and semi-detached properties across Carmarthenshire and the surrounding counties. We will discuss access and potential impact on neighbouring properties during the site survey and design the scaffold to minimise disruption while maintaining full compliance.

Are your scaffolders directly employed or sub-contracted?

Our core team of operatives are directly employed by us. When we take on additional labour for larger projects, we only engage operatives who hold current and valid CISRS cards. We do not use unqualified labour under any circumstances. You can ask to see CISRS documentation for any operative working on your site.

Do you cover remote or rural locations?

Yes. We regularly work in rural and remote locations across all three counties. Longer travel distances may affect pricing and scheduling, but we will always provide a clear quotation upfront. Our local knowledge of West Wales means we are familiar with the access challenges that can arise in more isolated locations.

What information do you need when I call?

It helps to have the property address, an idea of what work is being carried out, the approximate height and scope (e.g. full elevation, chimney only), your desired start date and the name of the contractor who will be using the scaffold. Do not worry if you cannot answer all of these — our survey will establish everything we need to provide an accurate price.
