Pizza Tipi began the way all good things do — around a fire, with family, and a stubborn refusal to settle for anything ordinary.
Four brothers, united by a shared love of properly made food and the wild beauty of West Wales, brought their passion for handmade pizza to the banks of the Teifi. The result is something entirely their own: a quayside restaurant where the wood-fired oven takes centre stage and every pizza is a product of craft, time and care.
From the dough — cold-proved for a minimum of 48 hours — to the toppings sourced from Welsh producers wherever possible, nothing here is done by half measures. The brothers believe that great pizza demands respect for the process. That means unhurried preparation, the right heat, and ingredients worth celebrating.
Set on the Cardigan quayside with views across the river from our riverside courtyard, Pizza Tipi is not just a meal. It is a proper occasion.

Four siblings, one shared vision. Between them the brothers bring decades of passion, an unyielding commitment to quality, and more than a little sibling rivalry about who makes the best dough.
Dough & Ovens
The technical mind of the operation. Obsessive about fermentation times, oven temperature and the precise moment a base reaches its perfect bake. Has been known to turn down tables when the dough “isn’t ready.”
Service & Hospitality
The one who makes you feel immediately at home. Knows every Welsh craft beer on the list, every pizza on the menu and somehow remembers which table ordered the calamari six months ago.
Ingredients & Suppliers
The one who drives across West Wales on a Tuesday to collect exactly the right cheese. Forges relationships with local producers and hunts down seasonal ingredients no supermarket would ever stock.
Artisan Breads & Starters
The one with flour on his apron by six in the morning. Responsible for the focaccia that has regulars ordering two portions before the pizza arrives. Also makes the desserts. Also a perfectionist. Also the youngest, which means he does the dishwashing.
450°
Stone heat
Our wood-fired stonebake oven is the beating heart of Pizza Tipi. It runs hot, it runs honest, and it does not forgive shortcuts.
The stone floor retains intense, even heat that no conventional oven can replicate. When a pizza base hits that surface, the transformation is immediate — a crisp, blistered undercarriage forms in seconds while the toppings melt and char in the radiant heat from above.
We proof our dough for a minimum of 48 hours. This slow cold fermentation develops flavour complexity that fast-proved bases simply cannot achieve. The result is a base with genuine character: light, airy, with just the right chew and a proper, smoky finish from the wood fire.

Cardigan quayside has always been a place where people gather. We have simply added fire, dough and a wood-burning oven.
Dine outdoors on the banks of the River Teifi with uninterrupted views of the water and the historic Cardigan quayside.
Our riverside courtyard seats up to 40 guests al fresco. Blankets provided on cooler evenings. There are few finer places in West Wales to watch the sun go down over the Teifi.
Outdoor seating availableOne of Wales’ great rivers, the Teifi runs from the Cambrian Mountains to the sea at Cardigan. In summer you may spot otters, cormorants and the occasional seal making its way upstream.
Wildlife on your doorstepWhatever the weather, you will be comfortable. Our indoor dining room seats 30 with full river views through large picture windows. West Wales weather is unpredictable. We are not.

Welsh craft on tap
We are not precious about the provenance of every ingredient, but we are honest: good pizza starts with good raw materials.
Wherever possible, we source from Welsh producers and suppliers. Our cheeses come from independent Welsh dairies. Our craft beers are brewed within fifty miles of this kitchen. Our seasonal vegetable toppings follow what is actually growing, not what the wholesaler happens to have.
The flour for our dough is a blend of Italian tipo 00 and stoneground Welsh flour — a nod to both traditions. The olive oil is premium cold-pressed. The San Marzano tomatoes are the real thing, grown in the volcanic soil of Campania. Some things you do not compromise on.

Independent Welsh dairies supplying our cheddar and artisan cheeses. Slow-matured and full-flavoured.
Pembrokeshire
Local farms supplying seasonal vegetables, herbs and salad leaves. Harvested to order, twice weekly.
Pembrokeshire
Award-winning Welsh microbrewery. Their Preseli Pale Ale was made for quayside drinking.
Cardigan
Brewed practically next door. Mantle’s Core Gold IPA is practically a house beer. Proper West Wales craft.
Cardigan Bay
Day-fresh fish and shellfish from the waters of Cardigan Bay. The squid for our calamari is landed locally wherever the season allows.
West Wales
Single-origin beans roasted in small batches by a Ceredigion-based specialty roaster. Our espresso blend changes seasonally.

“The best pizza I have eaten outside Naples. The dough has a flavour and texture that you simply cannot achieve without proper fermentation and a real stone oven. Sitting by the river made it all the more special.”

“We drove two hours from Cardiff specifically to eat here. Worth every minute. The Y Ddraig Goch pizza with laverbread and crab is unlike anything else on offer anywhere in Wales. The riverside courtyard on a summer evening is perfection.”
TripAdvisor
“We have been six times now and not a single disappointment. The brothers clearly care deeply about every detail. The focaccia alone justifies the journey. The Welsh craft beers are perfectly chosen. If you are in West Wales and you miss this place, you have made a serious error of judgement.”
