A proper independent cafe with character to spare. Homemade cakes, hearty breakfasts, seriously good coffee — served with warmth in a space that feels like nowhere else in Wales.
Today at Little Devils
Little Devils was born from a simple idea: Aberystwyth deserved a cafe that felt genuinely alive. Not a chain. Not a template. Something with personality, warmth, and food worth getting out of bed for.
We opened our doors with mismatched chairs, second-hand shelves stacked with curiosities, and a kitchen determined to bake something worth talking about. Years on, very little has changed — except the community that's grown around us.
We source our beans from small-batch independent roasters who care about where coffee comes from. Our cakes are made on-site each morning. Our breakfasts use local Welsh produce wherever we can get our hands on it. Nothing frozen. Nothing phoned in.
“A cafe should feel like a second living room — a place where strangers become regulars, where the coffee is strong, and where nobody rushes you out the door.”
The Little Devils ethos — since day one
Poached free-range eggs on a toasted Welsh muffin with locally cured laverbread patty, thick-cut back bacon, and our house hollandaise infused with a hint of Welsh whisky. Served with dressed watercress. A proper treat and unapologetically Welsh.
£11.50A buttery almond frangipane tart topped with blood oranges and a thin glaze. Baked fresh each morning. Goes fast — ask at the counter.
£4.25Double espresso, steamed oat milk, and house-made rose syrup. Light, floral, and surprisingly addictive.
£3.80There isn’t a square inch of Little Devils that hasn’t been considered. From the vintage finds on the shelves to the local art on the walls — everything here has a story.
No two chairs are the same. Vintage finds, industrial lights, salvaged wood — a space that evolved rather than was designed.
Our walls are a rotating exhibition. We showcase artists from Ceredigion and beyond. All work is for sale — just ask.
Stay as long as you like. We have free Wi-Fi, plug sockets by most seats, and nobody will ever rush you. Ever.
Bookshelves, oddities, a small lending library. Pick up a book. Leave one you’ve finished. Browse the shelves.
At Little Devils, dogs aren’t just “tolerated” — they’re part of the furniture. We keep fresh water bowls by the door, and our staff are the sort who will almost certainly make a fuss of your dog before they’ve asked what you’d like to drink.
Fresh water available by the entrance and on the patio at all times.
Our outdoor space is ideal on warmer days. Dogs love it.
We made the decision on day one to be a genuinely dog-friendly cafe, and we’ve never looked back. Aberystwyth is a fantastic town for dog walks, and we think every good walk deserves a great cup of coffee at the end.
We’re located close to the seafront and the Rheidol Valley trail, so we see a steady stream of muddy paws and wagging tails throughout the week. All dogs welcome, big or small. Our only rule: they have to be on a lead inside.
Fresh water bowls always available inside and on the patio
Dogs welcome at all tables — inside and outside
Staff who genuinely love dogs and may get slightly distracted
Dog-friendly treats available to buy at the counter
Easy access from the seafront, castle grounds, and Rheidol trail
Ground floor only — fully accessible for all dogs and owners
We’ve always believed a good cafe is part of the fabric of its town. We host, we support local makers, and we try to be somewhere worth belonging to.
Our rotating gallery wall
We’ve shown work by dozens of local artists across Ceredigion and Mid Wales. The walls change regularly. If you’re a local artist and want to discuss a showing, come and have a chat — we’d love to hear from you. All pieces are for sale.
Monthly and seasonal
From live acoustic sessions on weekend afternoons to community coffee mornings and book swaps — we host events throughout the year. Check our board or ask at the counter. Our space can be hired for private events before opening.
From the shelves to the plate
Our bacon comes from a Welsh producer. Our honey is local. Our eggs are free-range from a farm we know by name. We stock local jams and preserves to take home, and we’re proud to put Welsh produce on the plate.
What our regulars say
“Honestly the best flat white in Aberystwyth, and I’ve tried them all. The Victoria sponge is the stuff of legend. I come in three times a week and they always remember my order.”
“We drove from Cardigan just for brunch and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The Full Devil is magnificent, the staff were brilliant with our dog, and we’ll definitely be back.”
“I’m a student at Aber and this is genuinely my second home. Free Wi-Fi, good coffee, great cake, and nobody minds if you sit for two hours studying. Treasure of a place.”
We open early so you can start your day right. Breakfast is served until noon every single day, and the kitchen stays busy with light bites and lunch until we close.
Kitchen closes 30 minutes before the cafe. Last orders for cakes and coffee right up until closing time.
We love bringing people together. From live music to community coffee mornings, there’s usually something going on at Little Devils. Keep an eye on the board by the door, or ask a member of staff.
