The Beginning

Where It All Started

It began with a simple love of dogs and a determination to do right by them. Lauren started grooming because she saw too many dogs endure stressful, impersonal grooming experiences. She knew there had to be a better way. A calmer way. A way where every dog leaves not just looking beautiful, but feeling genuinely happy.

Every great story starts with caring about the small things.

The Foundation

Professional Training

Not just watching tutorials online. Proper, hands-on professional training covering every coat type, every breed standard, every technique. Learning the science behind coat care, understanding canine behaviour, and mastering the tools of the trade. Building the foundation that would become Kilgetty's most recommended grooming salon.

Skill is not something you claim. It is something others recognise.

The Journey

What Happens During a Groom

From the moment your dog arrives to the moment they are collected, every step is considered, calm, and professional.

1

Welcome & Consultation

Your dog arrives and we have a quick chat about what you would like. Any health concerns, coat issues, or style preferences are discussed. We assess the coat condition and agree on the best approach for your dog.

5-10 minutes
2

Pre-Groom Preparation

Before the bath, any serious matting is addressed. The coat is brushed through to remove loose hair and tangles. This ensures the shampoo reaches the skin properly and the drying process is thorough.

10-20 minutes
3

The Bath

Warm water bath with shampoo carefully selected for your dog's coat type and any skin conditions. A second wash if needed, followed by conditioner for coats that benefit from it. Thorough rinsing is essential.

15-25 minutes
4

Drying

Professional blow dry using high-velocity dryer for thick coats or gentle warm air for smaller, finer-coated dogs. The coat is dried thoroughly, straightened, and fluffed ready for cutting. This stage makes or breaks the final result.

20-40 minutes
5

The Groom

This is where the skill shows. Clipper work, scissoring, hand stripping, or a combination. Breed standard or owner preference, executed with precision. Face, feet, ears, sanitary areas, and body all shaped and blended.

30-60 minutes
6

Finishing Touches

Nails trimmed, ears cleaned, eyes tidied. A final check over the entire groom for symmetry and completeness. A light spritz of finishing spray. Your dog is ready and looking their absolute best.

What Owners Are Saying

Lauren is amazing with our two dogs. One is confident and bouncy, the other is shy and nervous. She handles both perfectly and they always come back looking and smelling gorgeous. Would not go anywhere else now.
Catherine M.
Kilgetty
Absolutely fantastic. My cockapoo was a matted mess when we first took her in and Lauren worked wonders. She was so patient and gentle. The result was incredible. Regular customer now.
James P.
Saundersfoot
Our elderly lab hates being groomed but Lauren has a magic touch. He is calm and relaxed the whole time. She takes real care with him because of his arthritis. Cannot fault the service at all.
Susan R.
Narberth
Best groomer in Pembrokeshire, hands down. Three dogs and Lauren handles them all brilliantly. Always on time, always friendly, and the quality is consistently excellent. Highly recommended.

Common Questions

Before You Book

How often should I bring my dog for grooming?
+
Most breeds benefit from professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Curly-coated breeds like cockapoos and poodles often need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Short-coated breeds can go longer but still benefit from regular baths and de-sheds. We will advise on the ideal schedule for your specific dog and lifestyle.
Can you groom nervous or anxious dogs?
+
Absolutely. Many of our most loyal clients started as nervous dogs. We work at their pace, take breaks when needed, and use calm, gentle handling throughout. We never rush or force. Most nervous dogs settle beautifully after their first couple of visits once they realise this is a safe, positive experience.
When can my puppy have their first groom?
+
Puppies can visit from around 12 weeks old, after their vaccinations. The first visit is a gentle introduction to the grooming environment. We keep it short and positive, focusing on building confidence rather than achieving a perfect finish. Starting early makes a huge difference to how they feel about grooming for the rest of their lives.
How long does a full groom take?
+
A full groom typically takes between 2 and 3 hours depending on the breed, coat condition, and the dog's temperament. We never rush. A bath and tidy is usually 1 to 1.5 hours. We will give you an estimated collection time when you drop off and call when your dog is ready.
What areas do you serve?
+
We are based in Kilgetty, perfectly placed for dog owners across south Pembrokeshire. Regular clients come from Saundersfoot, Tenby, Narberth, Pembroke, Whitland, Templeton, Begelly, Amroth, and the surrounding villages. If you are within reasonable driving distance, we would love to welcome your dog.
Do I need to stay while my dog is groomed?
+
Most owners drop off and collect later. Dogs often settle better without their owner present. We will call you as soon as your dog is ready. You are welcome to pop into Kilgetty, do some shopping, or head home. We always have your contact number to hand if needed.
