Rooted beside
the Teifi

Cardigan has always been a river town. The Teifi shaped its trade routes, its character, and its gathering places. The Grosvenor stands as one of those places -- a traditional pub that has witnessed generations of Cardigan life flow past its doors, much like the river itself.

Perched in the heart of town, just steps from where the Teifi widens towards Cardigan Bay, this is where locals come to unwind, where visitors discover the true pulse of the town, and where the conversation is as rich as the ales on tap.

Real Ales, Properly Kept

We take our cask ales seriously. Rotating taps feature the best from Welsh breweries and beyond -- Evan Evans, Mantle, Purple Moose, and seasonal guests that keep even the regulars guessing. Every pint pulled with care.

T

The Teifi View

Few pubs in West Wales can claim what we can: a setting where you can watch the river glide by whilst nursing your drink. On a summer evening, the light on the Teifi is something that stays with you.

W

Warm Welsh Welcome

Whether you are a regular who has been coming for thirty years or a first-time visitor wandering in from the coastal path, the welcome is the same. Genuine, unhurried, and completely without pretence.

F

Proper Pub Food

Hearty, honest fare made for appetites earned walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Think local sourcing, generous portions, and the kind of dishes that pair perfectly with a well-kept pint.

L

Live Music & Events

From acoustic sessions on quiet midweek evenings to lively weekend performances, the Grosvenor has long been one of Cardigan's key venues for live music. Check our events for what is coming up next.

S

Sport on Screen

The Six Nations. Premier League weekends. Big cup finals. We show the matches that matter on big screens, with the atmosphere only a proper pub can deliver. Best seats in Cardigan for the rugby.

"A pub should be the living room of a town. The place where all walks of life cross paths, share a drink, and leave feeling a little more connected."

Life by the River

Cardigan, West Wales

Heritage

The Grosvenor has been a cornerstone of Cardigan's social fabric for as long as most can remember. Situated in the heart of this ancient market town, where the River Teifi has drawn settlers for centuries, the pub has served as meeting point, celebration hall, and refuge from the Pembrokeshire rain in equal measure.

Cardigan itself -- Aberteifi in Welsh, meaning the mouth of the Teifi -- was once the county town and a thriving port. Its castle hosted the first recorded Eisteddfod in 1176. The Grosvenor carries that same thread of community and culture, a place where tradition is not performed but lived.

Today, the pub continues to evolve while honouring what has always made it special: a proper pint, proper company, and the quiet pride of being one of Cardigan's most enduring meeting places.

Riverside drinking
at its finest

When the weather cooperates -- and sometimes even when it does not -- the outdoor seating area comes into its own. With views across to the river, a drink in the open air here is one of Cardigan's great simple pleasures.

Summer evenings bring long shadows, the sound of the Teifi, and the gentle buzz of a town at ease with itself. Bring a coat in spring. You will not regret staying.
