Scroll

There is a place on Castle Beach in Tenby where the sand meets something special. Where the smell of freshly cooked food mingles with the salt air, and where families have been making memories for years. That place is The Dennis Cafe.

Family run and fiercely proud of it, The Dennis is not trying to be anything other than what it is: a proper beachside cafe serving proper food to people who have spent their morning in the waves, building sandcastles, or simply watching the tide.

With over 2,600 followers on Facebook and more than a thousand check-ins, The Dennis has built its reputation the old-fashioned way. Not through advertising, but through word of mouth. Through plates of food that make people pull out their phones to recommend it to friends.

On the Sand at Castle Beach

Castle Beach is one of Tenby's most iconic stretches of sand. Sheltered by the headland and overlooked by the ruins of Tenby Castle, it is a beach with character. And right there on it, The Dennis Cafe has become as much a part of the landscape as the castle itself.

There is something about eating by the sea that makes everything taste better. The salt in the air, the sound of the waves, the view that stretches out to Caldey Island. The Dennis makes the most of every bit of it.

Whether you are after a full breakfast to fuel a day of exploration, a quick coffee between swims, or a substantial lunch with the family, The Dennis delivers. Simply, honestly, and with a smile.

Beachside Dining

There is no restaurant view quite like this one. Eat with your toes in the sand, the waves as your soundtrack, and Caldey Island on the horizon. The Dennis puts you right on Castle Beach, where the food tastes better because of where you are eating it.

Family Welcome

Children are not just tolerated here, they are expected. This is a family cafe in every sense. Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, bring the sandy towels and the bucket-and-spade crew. Everyone belongs at The Dennis.

03

Honest Food

No pretension. No micro-herbs on a slate. Just good food, cooked properly, served generously. The kind of food you actually want after a morning in the sea. The kind that fills you up and sends you back to the beach happy.

Our Story

A Family Affair on Castle Beach

The Dennis Cafe is, and has always been, a family business. It was not started by investors or hospitality consultants. It was started by a family who loved Tenby, loved feeding people, and saw an opportunity to do both on one of the most beautiful beaches in Wales.

Running a beachside cafe is not easy. The weather is unpredictable. The seasons are short. The sand gets everywhere. But the rewards are something money cannot buy: the sight of families coming back year after year, the children who grew up on your chips now bringing their own children.

That is the story of The Dennis. Not a business plan, but a family story. One that is still being written, one breakfast, one lunch, one ice cream at a time.

What People Say

From the visitors who keep coming back

Best breakfast on the beach, hands down. We come to Tenby every summer and The Dennis is always our first stop. The kids love it and so do we. Nothing beats a full breakfast with that view.

Returning Visitor, Summer 2024

We stumbled across The Dennis on our first trip to Tenby and it made our holiday. The staff are so friendly, the food is spot on, and the location is unbeatable. Cannot recommend it enough.

First-Time Visitor

Fish finger sandwich and chips with the waves crashing nearby. My children talk about it all year. It is part of our Tenby tradition now. Would not change a thing about it.
