Crwst Benedict
Our house take on a classic. Toasted sourdough from the bakery, quality Welsh ham, two perfectly poached eggs and a silky hollandaise made in-house every morning.
Homemade bread, seasonal bakes and exceptional coffee in the heart of Cardigan. Everything made from scratch, with quality locally sourced produce.
Crwst is a gathering place in the heart of Cardigan — a cafe and bakery where the smell of fresh bread in the morning signals the start of something worth savouring. Everything that comes out of our kitchen is made by hand, from scratch, using the very best ingredients we can find.
The name “crwst” means crust in Welsh — the honest, satisfying outer layer that holds everything together. That’s exactly what we aim to be for Cardigan: a place with substance, warmth, and a bit of crunch.
We’re proud to work with local farmers, growers, and producers across Pembrokeshire and West Wales, keeping our supply chain short and our food genuinely seasonal. If it’s on our menu, it means it’s good right now, in this part of Wales, at this time of year.
Three dishes that have earned a permanent place on our menu — and a permanent place in our regulars’ hearts.
Our house take on a classic. Toasted sourdough from the bakery, quality Welsh ham, two perfectly poached eggs and a silky hollandaise made in-house every morning.
A generous, satisfying plate that needs no apology. Seasonal roasted vegetables, smashed avocado, spiced chickpeas, grilled tomato and sourdough toast with our house herb oil.
Our own soft, buttery brioche bun — baked fresh every morning — filled with a free-range fried egg, smoked streaky bacon or sausage, and a smear of our brown sauce.
The heart of everything we do. Fresh bread baked before dawn, cakes changed daily — because no two days should taste the same.
Long-fermented, stone-baked. Available as a whole or half loaf. Our signature bread — made with our house starter.
Soft, golden-crusted white bread with a light crumb. Ideal for toasting or sandwiches.
Enriched dough made with Welsh butter and free-range eggs. Sold as loaves, rolls and our famous breakfast bap.
Wholemeal and rye blend topped generously with sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds.
Made with French-style laminated dough, baked to a deep golden with shattering layers.
Dimpled, olive-oiled, herb-scattered. Seasonal toppings change throughout the week.
Custom cakes for birthdays, weddings and special occasions. Order at least a week ahead.
Brownies, blondies, lemon drizzle and more — cut fresh each morning and displayed on the counter.
Our cake selection changes every single day — follow us on Instagram to see what’s just come out of the oven.
See More at crwst.cymruWe take coffee seriously. Our espresso blend is sourced from a small-batch specialist roaster and pulled with care on our La Marzocco machine. Every cup is made to order.
We use whole milk from a local dairy as standard, with oat, almond and soya alternatives always available at no extra charge. Because good coffee shouldn’t come with a penalty for your preferences.
We also serve loose-leaf teas, fresh juices, homemade lemonade and a small selection of soft drinks. In summer, ask about our cold brew and iced coffee options.
We source as locally as we possibly can. These are the kinds of ingredients that make their way into our kitchen each and every week.
Our vegetables, eggs and dairy come from farms within 30 miles of our kitchen. We visit our suppliers, we know their names, and we believe it makes every dish better.
Our sourdough starter is fed with locally milled flour. Slow fermentation. Real bread.
Butter, cream, cheese and milk from West Wales producers we trust completely.
Seabass, sea trout and shellfish from the bay on our doorstep, landed by local boats.
Free-ranging on the Preseli Hills — the same hills that gave us Stonehenge’s bluestones.
We’re closed on Mondays so our team can rest. Every other day, we’re here.
Evening service on Fridays and Saturdays runs from 6pm. Last food orders at 8:30pm. Kitchen closes at 9pm. We recommend booking for evening dining — tables fill quickly. Hours may vary on bank holidays; check crwst.cymru or our social media for updates.
Good food starts long before it reaches the kitchen. We’ve spent years building relationships with the farmers, growers and producers of West Wales — people who care as much about quality as we do.
Short supply chains mean fresher ingredients, less food miles, and more money staying in the local economy. That’s not a marketing slogan — it’s genuinely how we think about what we serve.

We let the food do the talking. These are their words.
The Crwst Benedict is genuinely the best I’ve had anywhere in Wales. The hollandaise is rich without being heavy, the sourdough holds up beautifully and the ham is proper quality. We drove an hour just for this.
Went for the Friday evening menu and was blown away. The lamb was fall-apart tender and the sourcing is clearly exceptional. Crwst is doing something special here — Cardigan is lucky to have it.
As a vegan I sometimes dread cafes, but the Vegan Brekkie here is genuinely exciting. Not just a few limp extras — a proper, considered plate. The bread alone is worth a visit.
We stayed in Cardigan for a week and came here every single morning. The brioche bap on day one and we were hooked. The coffee is superb and the staff are genuinely lovely. Already planning our return.
The cake selection changes every day, which means there’s always a reason to pop back. The lemon drizzle was one of the best I’ve tasted. Brilliant place, brilliant people, brilliant food.
We had the shakshuka and the Welsh Rarebit between us and both were outstanding. The sourdough is exceptional — you can taste that it’s made with real care. Crwst is a destination, full stop.
Sourdough coming out of the oven, plates that look as good as they taste, and the space that holds it all together.
We’re right in the centre of Cardigan, a short walk from Cardigan Castle and the river. Cardigan is one of those Welsh market towns that rewards a wander — come for breakfast, stay for the afternoon.
