Newport, Pembrokeshire — Est. 1984

Where Fine Dining
Meets Warm Welcome

An award-winning restaurant with rooms, family-run with passion since 1984. Exceptional food crafted from the finest Pembrokeshire produce.

Four Decades of
Pembrokeshire Hospitality

Since 1984, Cnapan has been a cherished destination for those who believe that great food and warm, genuine hospitality should go hand in hand.

Set in the heart of Newport, a small and beautiful coastal town in Pembrokeshire, Cnapan is a family-run guest house and restaurant that has earned its reputation the old-fashioned way — through passion, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Every dish that leaves our kitchen reflects the landscape that surrounds us: the wild Preseli Hills, the dramatic coastline, the farms and fishing boats of West Wales. We know our suppliers by name, and they know why it matters.

Whether you are joining us for dinner, celebrating a special occasion, or settling in for a few nights in one of our individually furnished bedrooms, we aim to make every moment at Cnapan genuinely memorable.

Good Food Guide

The Restaurant at Cnapan

Holders of the AA Rosette and featured in the Good Food Guide, our restaurant is the heart of everything we do at Cnapan.

Food That Tells
a Story

Our menus change with the seasons, built around the very best that Pembrokeshire and the wider Welsh larder can offer.

Our chef sources daily from local farms, the Newport fishing community, and trusted suppliers across West Wales. You will find Pembrokeshire lamb, fresh crab from the bay, hand-dived scallops, and vegetables grown in the rich coastal soil — all prepared with skill and served without pretension.

The dining room is intimate and unhurried. Tables are spaced generously, conversation flows easily, and our small, carefully chosen wine list offers something for every palate and occasion.

Rooted in
Pembrokeshire

West Wales is one of the most beautiful and bountiful food-producing regions in Britain. We consider it both a privilege and a responsibility to champion the farmers, fishermen, and growers on our doorstep.

Our suppliers are chosen for their values as much as their produce — people who care for the land, respect animal welfare, and take pride in what they bring to market.

  • Preseli Hill Lamb Free-range, slow-grown on the ancient hillsides above Newport — the finest lamb in Wales, full of flavour and character.
  • Newport Bay Seafood Crab, lobster, and seabass landed locally. When the boats come in, our menus reflect it within hours.
  • Welsh Artisan Cheese A rotating selection of the finest Welsh farmhouse cheeses, sourced from small creameries across Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
  • Coastal Foraged Produce Sea purslane, samphire, wood sorrel, and wild garlic harvested from the coastline and hedgerows surrounding Newport.

What Makes a Stay
at Cnapan Special

Genuinely Family-Run

Cnapan has been in the same family since 1984. That means consistency, care, and the kind of personal attention that no chain hotel can replicate. When you stay with us, you are our guest — not a booking reference.

Award-Winning Food

Our AA Rosette and inclusion in the Good Food Guide are hard-won and deeply valued. We do not rest on them. Every service is an opportunity to show why we earned them in the first place.

A Place Worth Finding

Newport is not on the way to anywhere. People come here deliberately, for the beauty of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and for places like Cnapan. That matters to us, and we make sure the journey is worth it.

Awards & Accolades

Our work has been recognised by some of the most respected voices in British food and hospitality. We wear these honours with pride and humility.
