At Cardigan Castle
Where centuries of Welsh history meet the simple pleasure of a beautifully made cup of tea and a slice of something homemade.
Good food does not need to be complicated. A freshly baked scone, warm from the oven, with a pot of loose-leaf tea and a view of castle walls that have stood for nine hundred years. That is all. That is enough.
The Setting
Cardigan Castle is one of the most important sites in Welsh history. It was here, in 1176, that Lord Rhys held the first recorded Eisteddfod. Today, the restored castle grounds are home to our cafe, where you can sit among ancient stones and feel the weight of centuries while enjoying the lightest of Victoria sponges.
Within These Walls
The castle is alive with culture, music, and community. Our cafe is at the heart of it all.
Local producers, artisan crafts, and seasonal fare. Browse the stalls then warm up with a hot chocolate in the cafe.
The walled garden reopens for spring. Enjoy tea and cake among the first blooms of the season in the castle grounds.
Local musicians perform in the castle courtyard. Arrive early for the best seats and a slice of our lemon drizzle.
A special seasonal menu celebrating the longest day. Locally sourced, historically inspired, beautifully presented.
Storytelling, crafts, and a special children's afternoon tea. Little ones explore the castle and discover its legends.
"There is something about sitting within castle walls, holding a warm cup, watching the light change on ancient stone, that makes the world feel gentler."
